High Speed tungsten-molybdenum steel
These elements provide high mechanical properties while maintaining excellent toughness.
Molybdenum (Mo), present in a percentage of 5%, significantly reduces brittleness, promotes the formation of a very fine martensitic grain; it
increases the yield strength and consequently the mechanical strength, thus improving shear characteristics.
Wolfram (W), present at a rate of 6.4 per cent, is an excellent hard carbide formulator; it contributes to improving blade toughness mainly by
preventing grain swelling. It increases tensile strength and especially wear resistance at high operating temperatures, thus improving cutting
capacity. In addition to these main elements, Vanadium (V) is also present at a rate of 1.9 per cent, which makes the grain finer by helping to form
hard carbides that improve wear resistance.
